Beginner looking for a new project

Hi guys,

TL;DR: Beginner friendly, project worthy electronics

I’m looking for a new hobby or project. I’d like to repair electronics from industrial or professional such as movie-cameras or printers. I fell in love woth the 90s/2000s products, that are build like tanks. I picture myself hunched over a device with a multimeter and a soldering iron, hands smeared with oil, and complex schematics or patent drawings spread out beside me tinkering with the device. The items should be available very cheaply as im a student and have almost no money lol. I have the basic tools and would be willing to make a investment. Would of course be nice to use the things aferwards but thats optional.

Do you have some reccomendations for some fields to look into or even better some specific models to search for?
