Any advice on managing daily life and caring for yourself?
I would like to preface by saying I’m not diagnosed yet. I have been working on a diagnosis since Sept. or Nov. of last year. They currently have me down for Narcolepsy 2. I’m on the fence between N2 and Idiopathic Hypersomnia, but what do I know lol. That’s why I’m working on that diagnosis.
I’m currently prescribed Adderall and it really has helped a lot. I have periods where things are manageable as they can be and other periods where I have a hard time just living. Each period of time can last a few weeks to a few months. Right now I’m in that valley and I could use some advice?
During these times I’m just exhausted all the time. Any energy I do have, is taken up by my 40 hour work week. When I’m off in between or have a day/weekend off, I can’t bring myself to do anything. I have “no spoons”. I use those days to recharge and my battery is broken lol.
Doing any “chores” or tasks feel impossible. I can’t wake myself up anymore. I can’t cook- the thought itself exhausts me. When my partner cooks for me I can’t eat, because just the action of eating is exhausting. I have a hard time with showering. I’m still doing it at my normal schedule, but it’s physically exhausting and takes so much out of me. I also have curly hair, so on top of showering I have this extra routine to do. I can’t remember the last time I actually did my hair. That’s not really normal for me. When I’m at those “peak” periods. I do my hair every shower day. I take a lot of pride in my hair and my appearance. So not doing it is definitely a sign of how I’m feeling.
Just daily tasks for caring for myself are so debilitating. I’m honestly so thankful for my partner, because he helps me so much and he has been so understanding through all of it.
I’m unsure to what levels you all are dealing with this, but I’m curious if any of you have any tips/tricks/hacks/advice?
Thank you in advance!
