*This is part of Outsports’* [*series of “Dear Giants” letters*](https://www.outsports.com/tag/dear-giants/) *written by San Francisco Giants fans and sent to the team after their mishandling of this season’s Pride Night, with Bible verses written on Pride caps by three players intending to send an anti-gay message during Pride Night.*

Chris Delyani is not a lifelong [San Francisco Giants fan](https://www.outsports.com/2026/6/16/24136782/giants-fan-gay-sf-san-francisco-bible-pride-night-response-letter/). Growing up in New England, he naturally cheered for the [Boston Red Sox](https://www.outsports.com/2025/11/3/24121063/david-baggs-power-100-gay-boston-red-sox-baseball-mlb-billy-bean-coming-out-david-ortiz/) as a kid.

Yet moving to California and meeting and marrying his husband, he adopted the Giants years ago. The two of them have attended about five home games a year for the last 10 years.

“Both teams are near to my heart,” Delyani told Outsports.

That is now be up for debate.

Delyani could have never predicted the [Giants would completely turn their backs on the LGBTQ community and their fans](https://www.outsports.com/2026/6/24/24137892/buster-posey-sf-giants-trust-lgbtq-community-press-conference/) the way they have by allowing three pitchers to play in a game with demeaning Bible verses on their Pride caps.

He also could have never predicted his San Francisco Giants would so badly mishandle the response, issuing statement after statement that were all tone deaf.

“As if that wasn’t loathsome enough,” [Delyani wrote on Substack](https://chrisdelyani.substack.com/p/bigotry-wins-at-sf-giants-pride-night?r=2zgf7l), “the team issued a public non-apology after the game that as far as I’m concerned, only makes matters worse.”

His letter, addressed to Giants Chief Diversity Officer Roscoe Mapps, lays out the hurt the Giants have caused.
