Title: I really want to love Baldur's Gate II, but I don't understand the gameplay at all

Hi everyone!

I recently bought Baldur's Gate II because I've heard so many amazing things about it. I absolutely love old-school RPGs, rich lore, exploration, and well-written stories (I'm also planning to play Planescape: Torment), so I genuinely think this game could become one of my favorites.

The problem is... I don't understand the gameplay at all.

I've never really played a CRPG based on AD&D rules, so everything feels overwhelming:

THAC0

Armor Class

Saving Throws

Spell memorization

Real-time with pause

Party management

Stats...

I feel like I'm playing without understanding why things happen, and that makes it difficult for me to enjoy the game.

I'm playing on PC, and if possible I'd love explanations in French, but English resources are welcome too if they're beginner-friendly.

Do you know any guides, videos, websites, or could someone explain the basics in a simple way? I don't necessarily want to become an expert—I just want to understand enough to fully enjoy the game.
