Crazy messages/comments to listings from strangers- but only TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Home Goods resale???
I’ve been reselling as a hobby and side gig for about 4 or 5 months now and have found my groove and what I like to look for and sell. One place I frequent is TJ Maxx/Marshalls- I like just aimlessly around the stores anyway so now it’s also like a game lol. But has anyone/does anyone else get absolutely bonkers messages about your listings of TJ Maxx/Homegood find?
Out of 200 sales, 39 were from TJ Maxx/Marshalls and the other 161 were from other stores/thrifts etc. For the 161 sold listings that had nothing to do with TJ Maxx/Marshalls, I only ever got messages with offers or genuine questions (I use Vinted, Poshmark, FB, and Mercari with a little bit of eBay). Like if I post an item at a crazy high price for profit, I only get offers or questions.
But for almost every single one of the 39 sold item listings purchased at TJ Maxx/Marshalls, I get at least 1 or 2 messages from crazed adult women who usually look like they’re between 30-55 (I am a 35 year old white woman). Every time I list something, it’s like an alarm goes off at the military base of the TJ Maxx Marine Corp of Karens- and if I have messaging settings disabled, they will go out of their way to make an offer just to send me a message. It’s usually along the lines of “They sell that for $19.99, how dare you post at this absurd price? Have the day you deserve” but with much more fluff- like they send paragraphs because I am listing a $19.99 pillow for $39.99 or a $44.99 bag for $64.99.
Does TJ Maxx/Marshalls have like a team of Karen consultants who are paid to stalk every online selling website/app and earn commission for every “shame on you” message they send? I just can’t wrap my head around why the actual &$@$ you would spend your time messaging random sellers because you think their listing for some ugly bag or pillow is too high? Are they actually employees or something? Or do they think TJ Maxx will make them shopper of the year and post a framed picture of them on every store wall?
