[Help Please] Tips for the Chinese Type-T-34 Medium Tank and beyond

Greetings everyone.

Sorry to bother, and firstly I warn you all THIS IS A BIT LONG but I am in need of some little tips for this particular tank. In battles I hardly scratch the 500 damage mark (something that was somewhat easy to do in the M4 Sherman - Non DerpGun). I already have this machine in a semi-elite status (need to unlock the next tanks).

Ok so I saw this tank and I think it is a second line sniper so I try to hang a little back from the rest of the tanks (200 meters or so) and try to engage when the opponents are distracted/engaged.

My problems are the following:

  1. The very speedy reload of the gun - This leads me to overextend a LOT thinking in my mind that I need to KEEP FIRING! And well Im TD food ;)

  2. I have the tendency to try to protect the weaker flank - I HATE to see other flanks fall just because of a lemming rush on the teams I tend to have and I go there badly accompanied and that leads to a early demise.

  3. I have NO TROUBLE engaging TD's, Mediums and Lights but I struggle a lot VS Heavies, a KV-1 for example I keep shooting on the small hatch/view-port at the front hull or the lower plate hoping for a pen but nope; the American T5 Heavy is the same, I aim and fire at his lower belly and view-ports/hatches on the hull and nope...

  4. Unlike the American Meds (currently on the T20, hated the stock, LOVING the Elite version) I really CAN'T Exploit the terrain to my advantage so I try to brawl a little with this machine found 2 interesting things: What a trollish little side-scraper this is and that he does not seems suited to brawl AT ALL.

I guess that is all. Now another things what should I proceed to the Mediums, The Lights or The Heavies, AKA what can I expect from each line.

To help that choice allow me to give you a little background I started from the French TD's and Arties but I am now finding a LOT boring the kind of static game-play so I moved to the lights (I like my 13 90 and I LOOOVE the ELC), recently tried the heavies but didn't wanted to jump on the Soviet heavy bandwagon so I went British (my sanity has not fully recovered from the Church VII - The auto-penned from everywhere), I also posses some Brit TD's up to the AT-7 and I really am pushing myself to get a Pershing (seems a very good tank and has a lot of neat history about it).

Here is My Profile If you need more info (yes, I still have a lot to learn :) and I am eager to it).

Anyway many thanks to all that read this, and to all that replied.

Wish you all good luck sirs and madams.

Type t34, like many other meds, should travel with more meds. Try forming a platoon with a pziv, for example, and rush to claim important places early in the game. And this tank can't play the lead role so don't try to cover weak flank, instead, try finding a hidden place to snipe down enemies coming from the weak flank. This tank has very good camouflage supported by a small gun.

I remember playing in the kv-1. That is the right tank to cover weak flank, block the enemies advancement completely with a hull down position.

stay in the city and brawl. dont get caught in the open, otherwise spacebar shoot if forced to fight back while heading for nearest cover.

I'm sorry space bar-shoot?

space bar stops your tanks. Pressing it again continues the movement if you had cruise control on.

if your running full pelt and press spacebar the tank will halt, allowing you to take aim. once you shoot your tank automatically sets off and tries to maintain previous speed. space-bar shooting also makes you an unpredictable target for your enemies due to start-stop nature of your movement.

At http://www.wnefficiency.net/ you can what the common stats are with your tank. The Type t-34 has per game: expFrag 1.18 - expDamage 538 - expSpot 1.45 - expDef 1.25 - expWinrate 53.54. So as long as you do around that, and preferable better, then you are doing okay :) Good luck, i loved it myself.

Lots of things to know about the chinese tanks in general. I'll try to make a list about the line itself and about the tank you are on right now.

Let's start with the things you noticed.

1: Take the shots where you can. Just because you shot him once doesn't mean you have to again. Damage is damage, not a chance for more damage.

2:You are a support tank if you can't make other tanks explode in 2-3 shots. Don't be the first one spotted in fair conditions. Make conditions unfair for your opponent.

3:At tier 5 specifically, you can (and will) be able to bully tanks with lower HP, weaker guns, and bad positioning in the type-t-34. Heavies are none of these in most circumstances.

4:depression is bad at all chinese tanks. Sidescraping is useful to learn for the heavy line. not so much for the light and medium line.

Now, let's talk about the lines in question that you are looking it.

Heavy: Pretty similar to the russian heavy line. Different stats and quirks for guns but all around same style of play. Find enemy, engage enemy, shoot him in the face. Just use better tactics and skill for profit. Only major differences is better front armor while weaker sides.

Medium: Gradually the line removes the rate of fire for alpha. The tier 6 plays similarly to the tier 5 with just a different gun. The 7 gets a much better gun on an improved platform. The tier 8 is different because you "could" run the 122 on it, but the 100 performs much better considering you are not a heavy tank and shouldn't be in positions to use it effectively, but sometimes you are and it helps. After that the 9 and 10 just get a massive gun and amazing mobility and rate of fire, at the cost of armor.

Light: A different route to the Tier 9/10 medium. Very capable scouts. The tier 8 scout is best at tier than the 7 and the 6 has different results based on gold ammo usage. All in all, a much better line to get to the mediums at the top if you know how to scout.

I'd recommend the heavy and light line myself. The only thing that the medium line is worth is the improved matchmaking compared to the light line.
