Is $600 a month insane for groceries for one person?
I would love to get my grocery budget down to like 400, after all it's just me. But even if I try my hardest I can't get it below $600 which seems insane. My grocery budget does include toiletries and paper/cleaning, however I don't use many personal care products (shampoo, body wash, deodorant, a bit of makeup), and I've eliminated paper towel and try to use as few Ziploc bags/plastic wrap as possible. I enjoy cooking and eating clean, I almost NEVER eat out like maybe fast food once a month, and i rarely buy anything processed. I also rarely eat meat, my main protein sources being beans, eggs, canned fish, trout fillets, shrimp when on sale, and occasionally chicken.
I've started skipping breakfast entirely. For a snack I will usually just pop popcorn or have an apple. My special treat is flavored water (bubly or whatever's on sale), I allow myself one can per day, and coffee pods (I drink 4 per day, I buy the PC brand box of 72 pods for $40 so .55c each, usually with a bonus points promo).
For meals I'll have a bit of protein (2 eggs, one fish fillet, half a can of fish, or beans that I cook from dry) with fresh veggies and maybe potatoes or bread. Nothing too fancy.
I shop flyers and go wherever the deals are, I'm not loyal to one store (except for my coffee pods). How can I get this lower??
