Dry socket!!

Hi everyone! I got a wisdom tooth removed (upper right) on Monday (today is Friday) and despite the following two days being generally good I suddenly got a lot of pain yesterday, went to dentist and it turns out I have dry socket! The dentist didn't fill it or anything so I'm assuming it's only partially exposed?

I've been given mefac as a painkiller and two antibiotics also.

The pain is really weird and confusing because even though the extraction site is on top of my mouth, my whole right side hurts and is swollen? I find if I stay on top of painkillers the pain isn't too excruciating but I'm already sick of this as it's hard to do anything without pain flaring. I also can't work with it.

I'm just wondering when it started to improve for other people? I'm 4 days post removal. Please give me some hope!

Also all I've eaten so far is soft breads and eggs etc but is it safe to try some solids like chicken? Or fries?
