Is it just me, or are The Little Prince and Tuesdays with Morrie the ultimate first-time reader books?

I was never a reader, but I borrowed a pile of books from someone and ended up reading these two back-to-back in that order.

It felt like a big leap, but they were so good they finally got me into reading. Was either of these your very first book too?
