My Favorite Eclipse

We share the same space.

At different times.

You lighten up their day.

And you help me shine at night.

And for years, we take shifts.

Making sure others don't fall into darkness.

Very few still notice us.

Many have stopped looking up.

And then one day...

They announce it on the news.

They give out a date and a time...

And special glasses to look again.

You and I will meet up above.

We will slowly close the distance.

And in perfect alignment.

Your light will embrace mine.

We have a date.

And the countdown begins...

The anticipation rises.

The questions surface.

Will we collide?

Will we hurt each other?

The day arrives.

Our paths synchronized.

We count the hours.

The minutes.

We move with intention.

Guided by our warmth and light.

I slowly reach...

And our edges meet.

We take position.

The whole world stares.

You're behind me, yet beside me.

From my angle... it all makes sense.

I finally understand why.

You were always meant to be...
