I Don’t Think the Real Question Is Whether Amanda Frances Gets Asked Back
I keep seeing people debate whether Amanda Frances will be asked back for another season, but the more I’ve thought about it, the less I think that’s the real question.
The bigger question is whether RHOBH was ever meant to be a long-term fit for someone like her.
Amanda came onto the show with an already established business, audience, career, and mission. Most Housewives become more associated with the show over time. With Amanda, it almost felt like the opposite. RHOBH became one chapter of her story, but it never became the foundation of who she was.
She also never felt completely woven into the group in an organic way. Her real life didn’t naturally revolve around those relationships. It always felt like she was stepping into their world rather than living in a world that revolved around the show.
And honestly, I don’t know that she would have wanted it any other way.
When someone already has a full life, a successful business, a family, speaking engagements, writing projects, and their own community, there isn’t necessarily a huge incentive to make a reality TV ensemble the center of your identity.
Ironically, I think that’s what made her interesting to watch. She never came across as someone chasing fame. She felt like someone who already had a life and simply allowed cameras into it for a season.
That’s compelling television, but it doesn’t automatically make someone a long-term Housewife.
I’ve also been thinking about her storyline as a whole, and I actually think it felt complete.
At the beginning of the season, people were asking the same questions over and over.
Who is Amanda?
Is she authentic?
Is she really as successful as she says she is?
Can she fit into this group?
By the reunion, it felt like most viewers had reached their own conclusions. Some still weren’t fans. Others ended up respecting her far more than they expected. Either way, the central story of her first season felt like it had come full circle.
That doesn’t mean there wasn’t more that could have been explored. It just means the biggest questions surrounding her had largely been answered.
To me, the best way to sum it up is this:
The show expanded Amanda’s platform. It never became her foundation.
That’s why I think RHOBH can be viewed as a meaningful chapter in her story without necessarily being where her long-term story was meant to unfold.
Just my thoughts. Curious if anyone else sees it this way.
