Before I say anything else I want to be clear I am NOT trying to ask people here for anything other than advice. If you want to talk about something beyond advice, feel free to DM me!

I'm looking to see if anyone knows of any rescues or charities that offer financial assistance for vet bills and treatments, specifically in Michigan.

My baby girl, Ashley, is 11F and my whole world. She lost one of her legs as a kitten and has been dealing with Hyperthyroidism for about 2 years now. We've increased to the highest amount we can for her medication but it seems to no longer be effective as she has developed heart issues as a result of the thyroid issues.

Back in March I took her in for her blood work and brought up a few concerns - she was having some coughing/wheezing fits and appeared to have labored breathing but was otherwise acting normal. Our vet ran a pro-BNP and it came back abnormal. After talking with her she recommended and echocardiogram as a next step but i wasn't able to afford it then. I asked in her professional opinion if is was immediately dire, and she said it wasn't but should be done sooner than later.

Obviously, it's now July. Why did I wait? We got denied by CareCredit but we're approved through Cherry (basically the same thing as CareCredit), so we had a payment plan through them. At the time of her last appointment, I had only requested what I thought we needed for her visit, blood panel, and vaccines. I've been waiting for this plan to expire so I can request a new, higher amount. The plan expires 7/11 and she now has a vet appointment for 7/18.

The echo, office visit, and blood panel are already barely manageable. Add on any additional testing or medication, and I think I'm fully screwed. Conversely, if we treated/cured the Hyperthyroidism, she wouldn't need continuous heart meds. The next issues is, the Radioiodine treatment is $1400-$1600, doesn't take Cherry, and requires pre diagnostic testing not included in that price.

So I ask again, does ANYONE know of any resources in Michigan that could possibly help with this?? I've tried a few and I'm having very little luck. If we can just get her through her vet appointment and possibly get that treatment, she'd be okay. She doesn't deserve to die just because it's expensive. TYIA
