Building a chip in app. AMA or grill me or roast me.

Hi there,

I am currenlty building an app that's more of a chip-in approach than a "lets split the bill" situation.

I might need a reality check and a wake up call for what im building and i was hoping if yall could do the honours.

Some of the specs are here.

1. Free to join
2. For rooms built, unlimited rooms. 100pax for free version. (do yall need more?)
3. Theres a layer of accountability where once you pay, your status will automatically be [paid}, however, for the accountability layer, there will be a fee of 1% whatever the transaction is.
4. There will be 1 host who will receive all the money
5. The host can dilute the 1% to all his/her guests
6. If the host decides that they do not want the accountability layer, the 1% will be taken out. And the system will treat it like a 'chip in jar'' where guests can chip in as much as they like. But as mentioned, 0 accountability. (youd have to check your own bank statement/paynow to know who sent you money.
7. There is an automated nudge system that will nudge guest who hasnt paid. The frequency increases as it get closer to the due date.
8. failure to activate the nudge system will disable your payment method.

Some issues i faced

1. I can only use paynow cos its the lowest % per transaction. but honestly, if the actual calculations is $43, the host put $45, would u question it (or ask for breakdown) ??

2. In SG culture where i feel like everyone will just treat due to face is very real, if that's the case, this app is pretty darn useless.

Questions ive been asked and how i answered them.

1. If the host run away how? - Ngl, im gonna make this singpass verified for whoever wants to be a host, so your name, NRIC will be tied down.
2. I can just text my friend to pay me, why i need you app for this accountabilty. (i had the experience of hosting 50pax with friend's friend and had to cover at least $300 and i dont even remember their names.)
3. Can i not download the app? - can, you just have to pay first then automatically youre accounted for, if you download then you can RSVP and pay later.
4. If i RSVP and dont pay how. - honeslty, if your skin thick then you go to the event lor. Your friend who is the host got all the details bro.

Help a bro out and tell me is worth it.

Also, this will be V1. down the pipeline there'll be v2 and v3 and so forth. If you ask me about it ill probably DM you.
