Starting Med School Soon
I am an incoming OMS-I (22 y/o female) and I begin school in a few days - next week is orientation, and classes start the week after that. I have been stressing myself out so badly. Obviously, I am nervous about the workload and managing it, but my biggest stressor has been the social aspect. I graduated undergrad in December 2024, and since then, I have had an extremely limited social life. I was involved in some orgs in college, and when I graduated and all of that ended, my social life dwindled away with it. As a result, I find myself very socially anxious and honestly kind of awkward around people I don't know (don't ask me how I was able to do well in my interviews... that took HOURS of rehearsing LOL).
I want so badly to find friends but I am worried that I won't. When my school had an admitted students day a few months back, I saw other people getting acquainted with each other while I struggled to do so. This might sound cringe but it genuinely reminded me of being a kid and struggling to find my people. I have always been reserved and preferred small gatherings over large crowds, and my class size being a little over 100 is kind of intimidating.
Typing all this out, it sounds so dumb and insignificant. I know I am an adult and need to get over it, but it is still difficult nonetheless. My boyfriend and mom (my two favorite people) have told me that I will be fine and we are all there for the same reason and it's to get our DO degree. But I am still so so so anxious about not fitting in. I had a 20min long conversation with my boyfriend about whether or not I would be judged for the stickers I have on my laptop!!! 😠(still haven't decided if I should take them off...)
I don't know if I am just venting or want advice, but I got the urge to open this account for the first time in months and write this out
