[TOMT] [MOVIE] [OLD… pre 1970s] Scene from a real old movie where a guy is chatting with his buddy at work, he sets up 2 dates, and agrees to dinner with his friend because he knows the dates will cancel on him (which they do). Fun and jovial
Ok so I got a pretty obscure one here… this is an old movie, which I’m remembering as being in black and white but it could be in color (but if it’s color then it’s that super old looking color). I saw this movie/scene a decade+ ago on something like TMC
The scene is as follows: two guys in suits sitting in an office chatting it up (Mad Men vibes). One guy is a playboy bachelor, the other is a married man. Mood is fun and friendly.
Across the scene the bachelor is on the phone with some dames setting up dates for that evening; we see him set up 2 dates for that night at the same exact time… to his married friends bewilderment. The married friend says how he was going invite the bachelor to dinner at his house, but guess he can’t because he already has two dates.
But the bachelor says he’d love to grab dinner and agrees to go. The married friend asks about the dates he’s already set up but the bachelor shrugs it off, saying he knows they’ll cancel. The friend shrugs and says ok and they prepare to leave for dinner… but before they leave the office both dates call and cancel the dates.
The bachelor winks (or something) at his friend and tells him told ya so. The friend laughs.
As the movie goes on, it turns out the bachelor is in love with his friends wife… and despite appearing to love the bachelor life, he wishes he was married and actually envies his friend.
I think they are big name actors of the era who are in this movie, and I think the movie may have been popular at the time because my mom remembered seeing it when she was a kid.
But that’s about all I can remember
