Love cosleeping but barely getting any sleep
[My first ever Reddit post after lurking on here for years!] My daughter is 8mo and we’ve been cosleeping with her since around 6mo consistently. My husband and I are both very attached to all the extra cuddles we get but my daughter is getting up nearly every hour on the hour and sometimes staying awake for 2-3 hours at a time. She hadn’t been sleeping well for awhile but it’s recently (in the last month) gotten so much worse. During those times she is insanely upset. You can tell she’s tired and wants some form of comfort but she shoves herself off of us when we try to hold/rock her. She gets even more mad if we try to lay her back down in the bed and do pats/offer a paci.
Other context:
She is breastfed but she’s not waking up hungry. even when I offer the breast she’ll maybe only eat for 6 minutes and then she rolls away and is still upset.
We thought we fixed the issue one night by taking her out of her sleep sack. She runs really hot and sweats so she needed a cooler environment and she slept super well for one night but then never again.
We’ve also tried: getting an AC unit for the room, just a long sleeved onesie, footie PJs, changing her diaper, giving her teething meds/baby Tylenol/gas drops (not all at once. on separate occasions), getting blackout curtains, letting her play in the playroom for awhile (last resort. she did not want that), giving her a solids snack, breastfeeding, giving her a stuffy, giving her a paci, widening and shortening wake windows during the day (following suggestions of the Huckleberry app), getting her outside as much as possible during the day for fresh air and exercise, making sure to offer plenty of feeds and solids meals during the day so she’s not hungry. We also took her to the pediatrician for recurring coughing and now she’s taking an inhaler regularly which helps with any nighttime coughing.
TLDR: We have tried everything except for sleep training/putting her in a separate room. We really love cosleeping and want to make it work but we are absolutely exhausted and need to be able to work during the day. I’m wondering if she’s one of those babies that just sleeps better solo. I’d always heard that cosleeping was the magic solution but it’s been so hard. If anyone has suggestions or solutions, we will take them.
