What is the endgame of the tech billionaires for all the data centers and AI in general?

I would understand if the goal is monetary profit. But anyone can (and is encouraged to) access AI at any time for free amongst many platforms. Now they want to build data centers in space, obviously planning even more AI production/use. Is it simply automation, then the billionaires will hold all de facto power?
