Dumb Question re: default applications in Cosmic Desktop?

Hi, all: If an application does not have an entry in Settings > Applications > Default Applications in COSMIC Desktop (Pop! OS 24.04 Epoch 1.20), is the only way to change a default application association to edit the mimeapps.list file manually?

Any chance the ability to manage that file is being added to future versions? I didn't see it in the roadmap, but I may have been looking for the wrong thing.
