DM tips?

My friends and I are trying to start a campaign soon and it’ll be the first time any of us have played.

I got the Essentials kit for character sheets and the included campaign. I also have the DM Handbook but have not read either.

What should I know, read, or watch to get a better understanding of what I’m getting myself into?
