GLP1s & MCAS (or other autoimmune diseases)
I’ve been on a glp1 for over two years. I was on sema and lost 35 lbs in the first few months. Then, I stalled. I got on tirzepetide. My weight has fluctuated ~10-15lbs since then. I’ve stayed on it because it really helps my appetite control and I now don’t have food noise.
I was also diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (not from glp1 use). My gut microbiome, metabolism, detox pathways and hormone regulation is a mess. Lab results confirmed that yesterday.
I track calories and eat 1200-1600 a day. I prioritize protein. I used to go to the gym 4 times a week but it still did nothing. So what’s the point?
I’ve spoken to multiple nutritionists. They are equally confused how I’m not dropping when I eat very clean and small portions.
I highly suspect my MCAS plays a role. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m hopeful once I get my MCAS under control and my gut microbiome goes back to normal I’ll start dropping again. Everyone is just so confused.
