Hypo and anorexia
Four years ago, I had anorexia, and as a result, my thyroid levels were abnormal. I was prescribed 50 µg of levothyroxine (L-thyroxine).
Today, I have fully recovered, but I'm still taking it. Over the past four years, I've had about 10 blood tests, and my thyroid antibodies have always been negative.
Do you think it might be worth trying to reduce the dose? My doctor refuses because she says that as long as I'm feeling well on it and my TSH isn't suppressed to 0.01, there's no reason to change anything.
Since my hypothyroidism may have been related to malnutrition rather than permanent thyroid disease, I'm wondering whether I still need levothyroxine at all.
