How bad does it look to leave a job after 7 months?

Advice

Hello!

For some background I served in the US Navy for just under 10 years as a nuclear electrician (propulsion and electricity not weapons), and separated last year. I gave myself a few months to hang out, then I was gonna move back to my home state.

I cut it a little close in terms of starting my search, especially considering I was basing my move back on employment, so I broadened my search criteria to things I knew well, but didn’t enjoy as much. Got a job, been here since January. I’ve enjoyed it, the people are great, the company is cool, and I’ve had a good time learning more about this industry. Thing is, I am bored out of my mind, I’m not making as much as I could, and it is quite a bit of travel.

I started feeling this way about a month and a half ago, started looking around, and applied on a long shot to like- my ideal job. It’s a supervisory role, much faster paced, much more meaningful work, everything I either excelled at or found fulfilling in the Navy, and the pay isn’t even comparable. (90k here-> 140k there)

Well two interviews later, I have a third “interview” in a couple of days. In my last one they said something like “yeah, we’ll have a few candidates show up, do a facilities tour, chat with the director, and it’ll probably be a job offer.” Obviously I’m ecstatic, I’m just a bit concerned about how it looks to leave where I’m at after such a brief stint.

If you were the director, what would you think?
