To Tim Curry, Thanks For Everything, Love Random Redditor

Not only am I new here, but I saw Rocky Horror for the first time last year after a life of constant curiosity wondering what the craze was about. Well I’ll be the first to say… I get it. I’m a straight cis male, and while that doesn’t disqualify me from being able to enjoy the movie, it’s enough to make my peers very judgmental about what I like or dislike (ironic, I know). Seeing Tim Curry as Dr. Frank-N-Furter was something that really resonated with me, where I was able to accept that I like what I like and who gives a damn! This is something I knew all along, but the charisma and confidence he displayed made it seem like not only was it acceptable, but it was sexy to be yourself. He played the role of a true badass (dismissing any moral wrongdoing or whatever) because he showed that he’s Tim Curry and he’s comfortable with who he is, and that’s punk rock dammit! This post has probably been made a thousand times, but to every person involved in the show, I appreciate you for making something so boils and true. It’s really cool and sexy to be who you are, and that’s not debatable. You made me feel confident in ways that I hadn’t before, and I say this as a guy that’s never had a reason to feel any differently. So if it matters to me, I can only imagine how it makes others feel, and that’s really the coolest thing anyone could do. Sorry I’m ranting, I’m intoxicated.
