Duct replacement
I'm replacing all of the ductwork in my first-floor condo (~1,500 sq ft). The condo is well shaded, and I'm also installing a new variable-speed HVAC system.
My HVAC contractor recommends using fiberglass duct board for the new ducts. From what I've read online, it seems like insulated sheet metal ducts are generally considered the standard/best practice. He says sheet metal with installation would probably cost about twice as much and that I likely wouldn't see any meaningful benefit.
For those with HVAC experience: would you be comfortable with duct board in this situation, or would you insist on insulated sheet metal? Is the contractor's recommendation reasonable, or is this a sign I should get another quote?
I'm mainly interested in long-term durability, efficiency, air quality, and noise. Thanks!
