I posted here once before about Page Alert, but I wanted to show the idea in a more concrete way.

I’m the developer of Page Alert, a Chrome extension for tracking specific changes on websites.

The problem I wanted to solve is simple: many times I don’t care about the whole page. I only care about one part of it.

For example:

* a product price,
* whether something is back in stock,
* a deadline,
* the number of results,
* or a new item appearing on a list.

The basic workflow is:

1. Open the page.
2. Select the specific information you care about.
3. Save the alert.
4. Get notified when that information changes.

The screenshot shows the kind of setup I’m aiming for: select the value directly on the page, save it, and let the extension check it later.

Page Alert can also monitor larger content sections and lists, but I’m trying to keep the first-use experience as simple as possible.

For people who use Chrome extensions: does this kind of direct selection feel clearer than setting up rules in a separate form?
