How to be more interested in dentistry? I’m just going through the motions
Current D2. I felt driven and motivated for the first semester of D1, and after that I’m just going through the motions. I’m passing my exams and finishing projects, but I feel so so indifferent. I can’t remember the last time I thought dentistry was cool or I was happy with my work. I also participated in a bunch of extracurriculars at the beginning of D1, but slowly dropped out of everything. I see my classmates shadowing specialty clinics and talk about how cool the procedures are. I don’t feel bad about myself for not specializing, but I feel bad for not having the drive and passion for something I’ll spend so much of my life doing. I was so driven in undergrad, research, volunteering, making connections, leadership etc etc. I had a goal, and now I just don’t care anymore. Can anyone relate? I want my spark back.
