Scooter yes or no

Hello

I will be in Chaweng for some a few weeks. My actual plan was to not drive with scooter, because Im kinda afraid of it because i heard a lot of tourist die from it.

But the more I think about it its actually a shame because I get to explore the area so much less.

Why do so many tourist crash and get seriously injured? Ive never driven a scooter before, how hard is it? What are these people do wrong? Would you still recommend that I ride a scooter there?
