I'm lowkey tired...just lowkey friends...maybe if I was highkey tired I would have dropped the romance genre altogether 😂. However, as much as I love to complain about the presentation of most romance/romcoms...it's still my comfort genre🤗

*Disclaimer: I don't hate all second leads and the trends mentioned have repeated themselves over time in dramas but do not necessarily occur across all romance kdramas.*

Let's start off

1. **TIMELINES**

I hate when the second lead has known the fl for the looooooonnnngesst time but acknowledges the presence of the love in his heart ONLY when the main ml shows up and he is watching her slip away. Like you knew you loved her for the past 5 or 10 years bro, don't play with my head right now😑. Opportunity comes but once!- you should have locked in!!!!😑

2. **PARENTS**

I also hate when the second ml realises that the ml is winning her heart, so he makes an effort to be more friendly and welcoming to her parents or grandmother or that one elder in her life she cherishes above life itself, hoping that they can guilt trip her into thinking he's the better man. Back off😬

3. **REJECTION**

I hate when they can't take rejection. I'm sorry that you are the most perfect forest Green flag in the world but you are not who the fl wants..so accept that without being a so sour and annoying😭, and pulling out the **after-everything-I've-done for you** card or the **why-is-he-better-than-me** card

4. **UNREALISTIC PERFECTION**

I hate when they design the 2ml with no flaws. Like it seems the presentation of the drama from the get go is to singlehandedly push us towards the second ml. You (the writer or director or somebody) design the fl with flaws, you design the ml with even bigger flaws ......then you design the 2ml as a saint...who are we fooling🧐.

That's the 4 from me...I wish we would have more second couples than second leads really. I know we have second couples every now and then but it seems to be a convenient direction to always throw in a second single lead. We can do without it really!!!

Xoxo..a tired romance loving girlie😔💖

Here are all my issues with the presentation of second leads in kdramas😑 (Second couple >>>> single second leads). I'm lowkey tired🥴
