Considering a hysterectomy

Question

I am 24 years old, and I’m considering a hysterectomy for my endometriosis symptoms. I had an excision surgery 4 years ago, and my symptoms have returned and are debilitating. Mostly my lower back pain and chronic fatigue are making basic functioning difficult. I’ve started having to drink caffeine in addition to my ADHD medication and worry about longer drives because I may fall asleep. My last period lasted 3 weeks. I have been bringing my heating pad to work in front of my patients and have to explain it to people.

My symptoms are only part of the reason I’m considering a hysterectomy. The other part is that the medical field seems to be comfortable being entirely useless when it comes to helping people with endo. I’m tired of never getting support or answers. I am trying a 3rd progestin-only treatment, aygestin, after my first two had debilitating side effects.

My RBC is normal, but my doctor never ruled out that my iron could be low. I started taking a prenatal vitamin and a separate iron supplement to see if it can help. I feel stuck. I am honestly comfortable in regards to deciding that having kids will be fostering or adopting, it just feels like such a big jump. Any advice?
