Open Research Question #1: Can luck actually be measured?

When people talk about luck, they usually mean a feeling.

"I've been lucky lately."

"I'm an unlucky person."

"I had a lucky day."

But can luck become something that can actually be observed?

Not predicted.

Not controlled.

Just measured.

For example:

  • through long-term outcomes?
  • through behavioural consistency?
  • through decision quality?
  • through statistical deviation?
  • or is "luck" simply a story we create after random events?

This is one of the questions that gradually pushed me toward building Laetus. The app doesn't try to prove that luck exists. Instead, it collects behavioural observations over long periods to see whether anything measurable eventually emerges.

I'm genuinely curious how other people think about this.

If someone asked you to measure luck, where would you even start?
