Was the movie a bummer to anyone else?
When I read the book, I couldn’t put it down. I got sucked into every problem-solving rabbit hole — engineering, global politics, literal rocket science. All of it was presented in a way that made me feel like I could plausibly understand some very complicated topics even if it was just a surface level gist.
The movie seemed to accelerate this too much. Yes, film is not literature. Yes, movie have to appeal to wider audiences. Yes, we got some of it. But it felt like the stakes were lowered because solutions kept dropping into frame after three seconds of struggle.
Also, I was expecting Rocky to be big.
