Sanguine blood mage pvp gear drops

When opening my random battleground bag I can only choose Intellect gear. It also typically give cloth items, but I can wear leather. When I hover over Intellect on my stats it does not show any benefit to getting Intellect. Bloodmages have no mana pool, so im not sure if its helping me. Does anyone know if I should be getting Intellect and wearing cloth or is this just a pvp geardrop bug for my class spec?
