For context: we bought this house almost two years ago and even then, the house right next door to us had been "abandoned" for a couple years. It wasn't a huge deal to us, but we were told there have been various lawyers over the years attempting to track down the deed or tax records of the actual owners, but it seems like nothing has ever come of it (and the house is still dilapidated + unoccupied).

Anyway, they have two huge trees in their (unfenced) backyard that are almost completely rotted, and during some storms this past week, one of the trees fell towards our shared alley and is currently tangled up in (and seemingly held up entirely by) the telecom lines running pole-to-pole (and one that runs pole-to-our-house). Luckily, we've had no outages (yet), but this seems extremely hazardous and/or expensive, and I don't know how to go about the situation.

We initially called the power company (the day we noticed it) and they sent someone out to inspect, but they said it's actually not their power lines the tree is currently caught in-- they just share the same pole--so they recommended we contact Verizon (who we currently use for Internet). I've left two separate messages (and scheduled callbacks) with them over the last two days, but no movement yet.

Even if they finally call me back, though, I'm not sure if they're the proper company to handle it? Do we have to pay an arborist or emergency company to have them come cut it down? It's not our tree, and I would love not having to pay the (what I assume will be) significant price for this, but we also can't exactly contact our neighbors about it, and there are no other parties involved that this would affect (as far as I know). Is there anything I'm missing here? Do I just need to have someone come out and inspect it, and then call a lawyer once we get the bill and figure out how to proceed?

Thanks!

p.s. pictures included (taken from the alley behind our house, facing our backyard + garage). Fenced area is ours, everything to the right of that is not

p.p.s I tried to post to r/legaladvice first (to not break the rules) but they don't allow pictures, so please let me know if I need to revamp this
