I know you’re tired hearing about the odyssey but I have an important point
Every post I see has hundreds if not thousands of comments trashing Nolan for casting a black actress in a movie about Greece. I think people just have very low expectations because anytime Disney race swaps a character the movie overall is not received well. However I think if done right race swaps shouldn’t be an issue. For example the Shawshank Redemption took a character who was written as a white Irish redhead and had him portrayed by an African American actor. If that movie came out today people would say “oh it breaks the immersion” because there is no way that a black character in the 50s would be respected as much as he was, he would definitely face racial scrutiny from most if not all the white characters, but when you watch the movie you don’t really think about that because the overall story is told and portrayed well enough that you don’t really notice it. So the question is can Nolan tell a story well enough that you accept whatever he puts in front of you? My answer is absolutely, which is why I’m sat in theaters the day it comes out.
