To preface, I have Autism, ADHD, Heavy Anxiety, and Depression.

Growing up, I had an extremely hard time being able to interact with others, though I did occasionally find friends, it was rather few and far between. I got Similar talks like this from my own parents that did not help And often just made me spiral further. Going through these things:

1. “Take a break from the screen and touch grass”

I can agree with this, as going outsid, reading a book, etc is all good things but it doesn’t address a lot of the issues that drives someone to spend most of their time indoors and on a screen. The amount of places outside where you can do this sort of thing is dwindling, at least in my area, and a lot of these places require money to even get in. it also doesn’t address sensory issues that someone like I has, in that I don’t do well with sweating/heat or cold, insects and noise in general.

2. “Acceptance has to be earned, interact more, you’re actually a real shitty person which is why people don’t like you”

It’s true that acceptance has to be earned, and to get it, you have to try and interact, but positioning that it’s your fault and yo’re creepy just is not it. This is the main thing I disagree with, and while some fault lies on me, as yes, I should try to do bette, a lot more falls on the parent, who is supposed to TEACH you social skills, and a lot of the reasons to which I ended up having such a hard time was not majorly due too my mental disabilities, cause I abs could have just been seen as “weird but nice” but the shit socialization I got from my parents made it ten times harder to interact with others, because I couldn’t understand HOW.

3. “I ‘love’ you, fuck you clean your room”

I know my parents loved me. And they’re doing much better now but I can’t help but resent them for how they treated me. They’d generally end this supposed talk out of love with “by the way do this chore because we pay for everything“, guilt tripping me into thinking I’m always at fault, and that I’m a general burden. And then they wonder why I tried to commit Suicide on a few occasion.

anyways that’s all. Apologies for any spelling mistakes or poor gramma, I had a stroke a couple years back That took away my ability to write, and I’m still relearnin.

I hate the supposed argument this image tries to make.
