Self medicating with weed

What has your partner’s weed use looked like pre and post diagnosis with and without meds.

I won’t recount my current story here but did post it recently regarding my bp husband (41m undmedicated and medically resistant overall)

He recently had an episode with notable mania- still not sleeping well but is more “down” now.

He has smoked pot daily for 20 + years.

I do not smoke pot, but honestly let it ride for our 15 years together because he’s soooo much nicer to be around a little bit high. He did titrate himself down to a small amount so that it isn’t like he’s blasted high 24/7.

That was before before understanding more about bipolar and weed. Now I’m just seeing the damage and also the reality that this person just may be impossible to live with without his crutch.

I realize that self medicating is quite common. I’m just hoping to hear other experiences as I’m drafting non negotiables for our separation. Any luck convincing your spouse to stop? Positive and negative stories all welcome.
