What remedial action at the time was the worst but looking back now you can laugh about it?
When I was in SK as some of you know there was a ration restriction on how many hard liquor bottles, cases of beer that you could buy. How wine had no restrictions is beyond me.
I went over by a six pack one month. Needless to say Top chewed me out up and down. Funny thing I’ll share at the end.
So Top gets creative and says I won’t start Article 15 paperwork because you’re ETSing in 4 months, but you shall make a sign saying “I drank more than my ration, don’t be like me and have to wear a sign like this because you drank more than your ration”. I stood in front of the PX liquor store for an hour a day for two weekends.
Two months later I got bloodranked in CPL even though I wore ACUs. Yeah I wanted the old school way of promotion like I had when I wore BDUs. I headed out into Itaewon to celebrate with my fellow team leaders. We didn’t even make it to the first bar before we saw our Top literally doing to Itaewon soju shuffle out of a bar. He was staggering over to his car when we intervened. My great friend and I hadn’t even started drinking yet and we said hey Top we’re driving you home. Top didn’t even make an effort to say no, and told me where he lived.
On the short drive he looked at me and said Corporal you’d have made one hell of an NCO if you decided to reup, and I’m sorry for what I had you do. I looked at him, smiled and said if I outranked you I’d have you stand by the gate with a sign saying I will not drink more soju bombs than my body can ration. He laughed so hard he started yakking all over his car. My friend and I walked him to his place and literally had to put him to bed.
Monday run day he looked at my fellow team leader and I, and screamed ZONK. I started ACAP that day.
