When did you start using multiplayer?

First souls game, level 70, about 75 hrs in. Just got to the outer capital banks, kinda skipped volcano manor via abductor virgins (going back into there now for a thorough run through from that bridge by corpse rotting shack).

But anyways, I’ve never used multiplayer in any way. I’ve tried using golden effigy once for a boss but nobody came. I’m not even sure how to really do it lol idk how to use the coliseum either. I’m just curious how long it took for some of you to utilize all the cool features of this game. Am I lame for not trying multiplayer more? Am I overthinking this? I’m having a great time, truly obsessed with this game, but wondering what am I really missing out on? I’ll give it a try next time I play but I’m not even sure what to do haha.
