Copypasta Text:

Hi bloopander (this is your account right?),

I'm making a video about the base jumper. (Think the \[...\] Video, but for a screaming american). I'm doing some research into the phenomenon on why some people (generally of lower skill or experience with the item) think this excellent weapon is bad.

The reason I'm sending this message to you specifically is because you are one such example of a notabLe figure coping about the nerf. You have a video where you call it useless, comparing it to the Bison (lol?) and Caber, and the excuses you gave in reply comments were poor. This poor research + poor willingness to practice and utilize the item does not help its reputation and gives the impression of a bandwagon rather than a genuine attempt to understand and improve at using the item.

Rather than just rudely make an example of you in a video with millions of views without any warning, I decided to give you a heads up and a chance to defend your stance. To be clear, you are not the only subject matter worth talking about. This cope is everywhere and is a symptom of players not doing any research into how the item works, not practicing their air movement, etc. I also recommend watching wgetjane's 2-part video series which exposed the nerf as overblown, as Valve was incorrect in their patch notes. The air control nerf isn't even real - WASD inputs while deploying the chute am identical.

First of al, the myth that the item was noted specifically because of competitive play is disingenuous. I'm willing to bet that if I asked "who nerfed the item", you wouldn't be able to give me a specific name. I have been going around practically begging for a single source that definitely proves this rumour, and nobody has provided one. Can you tell me why you decided to perpetuate this rumour without providing a source? The only name people ever seem to cite is HiGPS, who had visited Valve to discuss the item. He is a casual player who maintains a balance mod geared for casual play, many of his changes are so out there that they'd be rejected by practically every sixes player, and HiGPS is a player who had previously succeeded in getting balance changes into the vanilla game (one example being the removal of scope jumping). Plus, if Valve's intent was to nerf it in competitive play only, they would have made a compromise change like they did with the Razorback instead of a direct nerf to the item. So if anything it seems obvious that Valve thought it was strong in at modes of play, as they wouldn't have made a direct nerf to at modes of play otherwise.

If you cannot provide any compelling counterarguments to the things I have told you just now, I will take this as more proof that I'm correct in my stance. To be clear, I'm sending this message to you because I'm really desperate for SOMEONE to prove me wrong and help me ironclad my script, yet I have been unsuccessful at finding anyone who can.
