Parenting Isn’t Something You Hand Off

I’ve been part of three blended families, and it’s shaped how I see this.
I don’t believe a father should seek shared custody if his plan is for his new wife to do the day-to-day parenting. If you’re asking for parenting time, then you should be the one parenting.
Don’t transfer your responsibilities to your wife.
If you can’t personally care for your children during your parenting time, then I believe that time should remain with their mother, not be delegated to your new partner.
A stepmother can be loving, supportive, and an important part of a child’s life. But she shouldn’t be expected to become the default parent simply because the father chose to exercise custody.
