Landlord didn't file any of their DHCR paperwork for their major rehabilitation exemption
As the title says, my landlord bought this building in 2020 and initiated major renovation to have it removed from the rent stabilized register. I have lived here since 2023, and in 2025, DHCR asked them 4 times to submit their documents proving the renovation happened and met the requirements. They didn't on any of those 4 occasions submit anything. Fast forward to late April, and a notice shows up alerting me to this situation that that DHCR has found that my apartment is not exempt. My landlord has submitted a PAR, and while I'm in touch with, but have not yet employed, lawyers (I'm holding off until the regulatory situation has stabilized), I am wondering if they're even able to use the PAR process to submit this kind of paperwork after not submitting it 4 times. Would really appreciate people's perspective on this and what I can maybe expect in this slightly more unusual situation.
