The annoying truth about real homemade yogurt
The most annoying thing about making real yogurt at home is that it is not instant.
You cannot mix it and eat it immediately. You have to wait. Usually many hours.
And that is also the whole point.
Real yogurt is made by fermentation. The bacteria need time to wake up, multiply, acidify the milk, and change the texture. That process cannot be rushed without changing what the product is.
This is why homemade yogurt sometimes feels less convenient than buying a pot from the supermarket. It needs milk, warmth, time, and a little patience.
But the benefit is that you know what went into it. No unnecessary stabilisers, no artificial shortcuts, no mystery texture. Just milk, cultures, temperature, and time.
The bacteria do the work. You do the waiting.
That is the flaw, but also the beauty of it.
Would you still make homemade yogurt if it takes 8–16 or more hours, or is convenience more important?
