I want something fun and I have disposable income. Analysis Paralysis hitting me hard, what do I buy?
Hey All,
I'm a true analysis paralysis guy. There are literally too many options in the world for fun cars and I can't make a decision. I don't have unlimited funds but my wife and I run a business and clear $500k a year (though that just began this year, so we don't have a decade of wealth built at that salary, but the business is 20 years old and strong). We're selling some real estate and will clear $300k from the sale. I'd like to buy something fun, but I think like $125k would be my limit. Maybe I could trade up later for something spendier if things continue to go well.
Here are some of the many cars that are attractive to me and I simply can't make up my mind, and these are very divergent. I have a preference for convertibles and 4 seats would be great but not mandatory, this likely wouldn't be a daily and I can pick and choose when I'd only need 2 seats.
- Ferrari
- California 30 HS
- FF if the price was really good
- F430/599 GTB are skyrocketing of late, probably out of reach
- Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder
- BMW M4 Competition Convertible
- Lexus LC500 Convertible
- Lotus Emira V6 manual
- Shelby Cobra roadster replica (MK4 or such)
- Daytona Coupe Type 65 replica
- Corvette C1 or C2 roadster
- Porsche Taycan CT or ST
Primary purpose is for fun. I don't mind flashy. I live in SoCal so weather is great. I don't track as there's nothing really close. Like I said, this list is all over the place ranging from practical to true weekend cars only. I have an SUV and a Tesla and depending on the car I'd probably keep the Tesla for my daily/work drives, but if I got something like a Taycan CT I would sell the Tesla.
Alternatively I could cool my jets and just wait another couple years and probably open up the field, but ideally most of the above cars would have depreciated significantly already and I won't get hosed too hard there (I know not all of the above have, but many have). Or maybe drive something for 12-36 months and upgrade later.
Poke holes and bring your suggestions and opinions, thanks. 😄
