Am I being dramatic for accusing my bf of not trusting me?

I (27F) recently went on a movie date with my boyfriend(32M) and somewhere along the night he lost his wallet. We booked a late showing so he didn't notice until the next morning when he was at work, and naturally asked me to check my car if it was there. I have a rather small car so I checked twice to make sure I didnt miss any spots before letting him know I hadn't found it. He thanked me and that was that.

That evening he picked me up for a dinner outing and he asked me a couple times if I was sure it wasn't in my car. I assured him it wasn't but decided I'd check the next morning again for triple security. The following morning, I searched and took pictures and sent them to him just so he could have some proof and peacr of mind that I had actually looked for it. Thanked me again and left it at that.

Last night we went out for dinner again and I drove this time. On the drive over I noticed he turned on his flashlight and was looking around so I made a joke about him not trusting my eyes to see his wallet (I wear glasses and we often joke about my poor eyesight), he laughed it off and said of course I trust you I was just checking. Which sure I could understand if I was a stranger or someone he hasn't known for a long time, but I said nothing else.

When we got to the restaurant, I got off the car and kept talking assuming he was next to me. I turned back around to the car to find him looking under the seats with his flashlight and it did surprise me so I told him I can't believe you actually don't trust my word when I said there was nothing in my car. He laughed again and said I DO trust you, and continued to search the car. We had dinner and headed back to his house and I mentioned how I seriously can't believe that he doesn't trust me on something so small and he again said it wasn't that he didn't trust me, it's just how he is and wanted to have a silver of hope that maybe he could find his wallet in my car. He did not.

I could understand if I was a random friend or someone he didn't know very well, but we've been dating for a year now and known each other longer, so I just don't understand why he couldn't take my word for it. I could just be taking it personally but I think this is a sign to me that he has some underlying feelings of distrust towards me.

TL;DR: Am I being unreasonable for accusing my boyfriend of not trusting me over not being able to find his lost wallet in my car
