Maggot king- Take eggs.

Hello, I've done around 20 kills where i am taking the eggs to get the pet. I have gotten 3 white eggs and the rest of the kills the eggs pop when i try to take them. Is this normal or am i getting really unlucky? I just finished 10 kills in a row where the eggs popped every time. Thanks for the help.
