What happens when people get arrested for not showing ID?

I get all these clips of people who were asked to show ID but refuse bc they weren't committing a crime and then end up getting cuffed. But I never see anything after the fact that shows if the cops were right or if the citizen was right? Is anyone familiar with how these situations play out in court?
