What do I do if I don’t find someone to relet my lease to in time? [AR]

Hi Reddit, I am so screwed. I’m moving to a different state for college, but I already renewed my lease for my current apartment. I’ve been trying to find someone to relet my lease to, but have not been successful. People interested always end up ghosting.

The new lease starts August 1st, and I absolutely cannot afford to pay for two apartments. What do I do if I can’t find someone in time and I’m still financially responsible for the unit?

Please help, I’m so anxious about this.
