Am i insane for wanting to break up over this? Im 23M and she is 22F.

Okay so, me 23M, and my gf 22F, have been dating for around 2.5 years now. up until the 2 year mark of our relationship, everything had been going extremely perfectly. Genuinely, I never thought i would meet someone that matched my interests this much, and support and love me through absolutely everything.

However, for the past 4-5 months, things have been going south rapidly. at first, it was just small things, us talking a lot less, or her not paying attention to some of the things I said. At that time, I barely even noticed it, and just chalked it up to the fact that we are both busy people, who often don't get much time to meet in person, and rely a lot of texts and calls.

As, time progressed though, things like this began happening more and more, it felt like she didn't really care about our relationship as much. She started replying super late to my texts, and we barely ever called each other. At one point she mentioned to me that, "I don't like affection anymore", and that "she didn't really like talking through text to anyone now", This effected me more than I would like to admit, but even then I didn't do too much about it, as I didn't want to affect her intense studies, etc.

But, it got to point where, it didn't even feel like we were going out, and it just felt like we were in some sort of a 'rut', I had tried to talk things out with her, to improve this situation COUNTLESS times. Each one of those times, either just led to an argument of sorts, or just her saying 'sorry', and then nothing changing, and she never really put in much effort. So, I decided to break up, I broke up with her on extremely good terms, and I just tried to be as caring as possible, even though it was hurting me like hell.

Now, at this point (before the breakup, we were nearly never talking, and whenever we did talk, it was a lot of arguing about random stuff. Just a few days after the break up, she called me up, nearly in tears, saying how she made mistakes, saying that she would be better. I don't want to deny the fact that I wasn't the perfect bf here either, I could've improved in various areas, but I always listened to her, and changed anything that bothered her. Listening to her cry on the phone, just surprised me so so much, I hadn't experienced that level of affection from her in a long long time.

Okay this is getting quite long so let me sum it up fast. Eventually, after a few days of talking it out, and her kind off convincing me to get back together, we did get back together. For the first week of that, it felt like our old perfect relationship once again. But nowadays, it feels like it may start falling back into that rut, its almost like that cycle is repeating again now, and Im worried as I don't want this to affect the focus I have on my career as it did previously.
