Calibre

Please can someone give me/link me to an idiots guide to setting up Calibre on Mac to use with a KCC?
I’ve bought one for my friend as a gift but I’m on PC ans do also think a lot of the plugins I use are obsolete.
Aiming to make it easy for her to start her own library!
