Reliable Used Car Recs 16K max, prefer smaller SUV, high mpg if possible

Maybe I'm asking for too much of a magical car-- but I'm looking for my first one since I've been borrowing my partners. I would love some recommendations of what makes & models of cars to consider that vaguely fit these preferences!

-I don't really want to spend more than 16K.
- I drive in LA, so stop & go traffic. I'm used to driving a 2015 rav4 which is fine, but sometimes it doesn't accelerate as fast as I would hope?
- 27mpg+ preference: I've heard hybrid used is risky because of repair value, but to drive to my work is 45 mins with traffic 25 without (rare). Mileage wise looking at the rav4's est. it takes 30 miles every time, I'm assuming it's just because the internal estimate is not accurate.
- Prefer an SUV for the visibility.

Not looking for anything fancy, just something comfortable, reliable, decent MPG, & good visibility. Tried a crosstrek & found the mirrors a bit small? Any suggestions would be so helpful THANKS!!
